I'm administering an SQL CLUSTER and suddenly I notice there is an error during installation on the Reporting service. It happen two me like a dozen try. So I'm quite very sure that its the SQL_RS.msi that is giving a headache. So I leave not to install the Reporting services on the cluster. Unfortunately after 2 years of the database existence. They developer come up with the plan to use the Reporting services to extract reports.
Basically, As an administrator I need to install there services in order to push as what is already plan.
Here's the scenario then,
The sql cluster's Node 0 is the active Database server as of the moment. Then I try to install the SQL reporting service on NODE1 which is the Inactive member of the cluster. Unfortunately the installation has error on it. I try using the New installation or ADD new features on the setup configuration and the result is the same. A failed error installation. My developer decided to use another SQL which are not part of the SQL cluster. A new instance and it did work.
Now here comes the error when I try to launch the SQL management studio on NOde 1. I got this error below.
According to Microsoft I need to reinstall the SQL management studio on NODE 1 and try to check if the problem persist. I'm still skeptical but I will try then to do it. If this is a problem with the SQL management studio then its alright. I think I can have it done in minutes and solve the problem. I'm still thinking if I can replicate the problem on my Lab. Which is a better way to do it.
Sql Management is a tough job. You'll never know what will happen next. Maybe an upgrade again to SQL 2012 will help... Just maybe.
I will update you on the progress of this endeavor. I hope Google is right on putting the solution on rank 1. I just hope.
